SIXTH FORM PROGRAMME A-LEVEL AND SIXTH FORM PROGRAMME AIS ALUMNI Sixth form is the two years of academic study for young people aged 16-18 in preparation for admission to university. Several subjects are studied in depth and students can make their preferred choices from a range of subjects. Students will generally choose 3 A-level subjects that correspond with university entry requirements for their prospective career path. The assessment is through AS and A-level Exams, which are required for university entry and are the equivalent of the Spanish Bachillerato. A rigorous and competent preparation for A levels (Bachillerato equivalent) with validation for university entry and higher education in Spain and other international education systems.

In each subject, official external exams are taken at the end of each year of 6th Form (AS at the end of Year 12; A2 at the end of Year 13). Each set of exams is of equal value and is added together to achieve a full A level. Each student´s university prospects relies on the A level results. Here we explain how A levels are accepted in different countries. The basic university entry requirement in Spain, for example, is two or more A level subject passes. Up to 4 AS and A-Levels are validated. Different universities (and different countries) have different criteria.
Students will normally choose 3-4 subjects the first year and continue with 2-3 of their subjects the second year. This depends on the amount of AS and A2 levels they will need for their further university studies.

VALIDATION Admission to Spanish Universities
Students with A-Level qualifications are guaranteed admission to Spanish universities, under the same conditions as Spanish students applying from Spanish schools. The validation process for our students is carried out via UNED (Universidad de Educación a Distancia) and is known as Direct Access.

If you require any further information or have any questions about university entrance, contact the school directly. We will be happy to answer any questions about university access and the steps your child should take.

Admission to British Universities
Admission to British Universities
In the UK, three A-level passes are normally required for admission to university, and in many cases, depending on the demand for the course to be studied and the university applied to, there can be a requirement for these grades to be B or above. The application process is via UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admission Service). Should the student wish to apply for university in the UK, the AIS team will help the students with their UCAS application process.

Admission to Universities in other countries
A-Level qualifications allow students to apply to universities throughout Europe, the US, Canada and many other parts of the world.
