General

In Primary and lower Secondary, we don’t have daily homework. We give homework if a child hasn’t finished what they needed to do in the class that day. From Class 8 on up, homework is assigned regularly but not excessively.

There are no external exams until the GCSE/IGCSEs in Class 10.

We evaluate students’ ongoing work, i.e. their classwork, homework, level of participation and effort. There are projects and presentations and also internal tests to assess what they have learnt, their knowledge and skill.

In Primary, the Class Teacher teaches all of the core subjects and most of the other classes, but in Secondary from Class 7 on up, subject specialists teach the children and the Class Teacher will only teach their subject/s and be with the class every morning during Circle Time.

There are more than 30 teachers at AIS.

The class sizes vary from 13-22. In Secondary our average class size is 16. We have two cohorts per year group from Class 6 to Class 10. Our maximum in Primary is 22 children per class.

AIS Summer School is designed to provide an English learning experience through English language immersion to children with all levels of English. That’s why, even though your child does not speak English, they will enjoy all the activities while learning English in a supportive environment.

There will be a lifeguard by the pool from 09.00 to 14.00.

AIS teachers will hold AIS Summer school classes with the support of teaching assistants. They are fully qualified to offer a positive learning experience for everyone.

We offer discounts for siblings. You can also get a sibling discount when using our Bus Service. We do not offer sibling discounts for the lunch service. You can access the discount information here: Fees

We try our best to cater for the needs of the children. If possible, we place siblings and friends in the same group. If two siblings want to be placed in the same group, they will all go to the lowest age group.

You can only register weekly for our summer school, even though you may plan to attend for less than the full week.

Children should be at the entrance area by 09.00. The meeting points will be signalled with coloured flags so their teachers can meet them and lead them to the classroom. Please pick them up punctually at 14.00 by the assigned places for your child’s group.

The Summer school registration fee will cover all the activities and the use of the pool. Snacks, lunch and bus services are not included.

Our teachers carefully craft all the activities for different age groups, guaranteeing that everyone has the opportunity to learn and enjoy.

If your child can’t swim or is learning to swim, you must provide floatation equipment, such as life vests, water wings or floats. If properly labelled, you can leave them at school. We will provide a space to keep them so you don’t need to bring them daily.

If you provide the school with at least two full weeks’ notice before the start of the week (e.g. by Sunday, June 14th 2026, for the week beginning Monday, June 29th 2026), you will be eligible for a refund. However, if notice is given within two weeks of the start date, we regret that we cannot offer a refund for summer school fees.
