In Key Stage 5, Sixth Form, students transition to the Advanced Level (A-Level) program, a more specialised course of study that prepares them for university entrance.
Several subjects are studied in depth and students can make their preferred choices from a range of subjects. Students select which subjects to study according to their interests, their performance in their IGCSEs, and the academic areas they are considering studying at university.
The assessment is through AS and A-level Exams, which are required for university entry and are the equivalent of the Spanish Bachillerato. There are two parts to International A levels (AS and A2). In each subject, official external exams are taken at the end of each year of 6th Form (AS at the end of Year 12; A2 at the end of Year 13). Each set of exams is of equal value and is added together to achieve a full A level. Each student´s university prospects rely on the A level results.
A-Levels are widely accepted internationally. The basic university entry requirement in Spain, for example, is two or more A level subject passes. Up to 4 AS and A-Levels are validated. Different universities (and different countries) have different criteria as you can see in the examples from the following table.
The AIS A-level program includes a choice of enrichment options (non-examined), supervised study times and career guidance. Our aim will continue to be providing a balanced and stimulating educational program to motivate our students in a supportive environment.
We offer a range of enrichment opportunities, including work experience placements, in-school internships, and annual class trips, often abroad, which students contribute to through fundraising. These experiences, along with the chance to engage with the rich cultural and historical offerings of the surrounding region, enhance their learning, broaden their perspectives, and provide valuable opportunities for personal growth and development.

En Key Stage 5, Sixth Form, los alumnos pasan al programa de Advanced Level (A-Level), un curso de estudios más especializado que les prepara para el acceso a la universidad.
Se estudian varias asignaturas en profundidad y los alumnos pueden elegir entre una serie de asignaturas. Los alumnos seleccionan qué asignaturas estudiar en función de sus intereses, su rendimiento en los IGCSE y las áreas académicas que están considerando estudiar en la universidad.
La evaluación se realiza a través de los exámenes AS y A-level, que son necesarios para acceder a la universidad y equivalen al Bachillerato español. Los International A levels constan de dos partes (AS y A2). En cada asignatura se realizan exámenes oficiales externos al final de cada curso de 6th Form (AS al final de Year 12; A2 al final de Year 13). Cada serie de exámenes tiene el mismo valor y se suman para obtener un nivel A completo. Las perspectivas universitarias de cada estudiante dependen de los resultados obtenidos en los A-Levels.
Los A-Levels gozan de gran aceptación internacional. El requisito básico de acceso a la universidad en España, por ejemplo, es haber aprobado dos o más asignaturas de nivel A. Se convalidan hasta 4 AS y A-Levels. Las distintas universidades (y los distintos países) tienen criterios diferentes, como puedes ver en los ejemplos de la siguiente tabla.
El programa AIS A-level incluye una selección de opciones de enriquecimiento (no examinadas), tiempos de estudio supervisados y orientación profesional. Nuestro objetivo seguirá siendo proporcionar un programa educativo equilibrado y estimulante para motivar a nuestros estudiantes en un entorno de apoyo.
Ofrecemos una serie de oportunidades de enriquecimiento, como prácticas en empresas, prácticas en el centro y viajes anuales de las clases, a menudo al extranjero, a los que los alumnos contribuyen mediante la recaudación de fondos. Estas experiencias, junto con la oportunidad de participar en la rica oferta cultural e histórica de la región circundante, mejoran su aprendizaje, amplían sus perspectivas y proporcionan valiosas oportunidades de crecimiento y desarrollo personal.
